Edlyne Records' artist and LKT's manager, Emibrian dies

Edlyne Records' Artiste/Repatour manager (A&R), artist, and LKT's manager, Emmanuel Okoi, better known as Emibrian, has died. Emibrian (pictured above with his wife) died yesterday January 15th at Agege General hospital after weeks of battling an unknown ailment, which was later identified as poison. Reports say that series of tests were conducted to ascertain the nature of his ailment without any result until one last one that revealed the true picture as food poisoning. Plans were already in place to fly him out of the country when he died today.

Today is exactly one month he married his wife Jennifer Ejinkonye at the Ikoyi registry. They had been planning their white wedding when he suddenly fell ill. Emibrian was in his early 30s. So sad. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

Shamed cyclist Lance Armstrong confesses doping to Oprah

After more than a decade of denying doping claims, disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has admitted to Oprah that he used performance-enhancing drugs to help him win seven Tour de France titles, sources revealed Monday evening.
A person familiar with the situation told the Associated Press that Armstrong confessed to Oprah Winfrey during an interview taping with the Queen of Talk, which is slated to air on Thursday on her network.
Armstrong was stripped of all seven Tour titles last year in the wake of a voluminous U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report that portrayed him as a ruthless competitor, willing to go to any lengths to win the prestigious race.

Kidnapped Imo state Dep Governor's protocol officer found dead

The director of protocol to Imo State Deputy Governor, Mr Laz Anyanwu, who was kidnapped last Friday January 11th near Government House, Owerri, has been killed by his abductors.

Laz Anyanwu was found dead along a bush path at Nwaoriebe in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State yesterday afternoon. The people who took him on Friday didn't contact his family members for a ransom, raising suspicion that his death might have been politically motivated.

Man Defecates While Making Love With A Prostitute

An unidentified hawker was last week given a thrashing by self-confessed prostitutes after he soiled himself in the midst of having making love with one of the hookers.

The hawker is believed to have travelled from Zvimba and ended up at Tekkerai Court where he was briefly detained as he was forced to clean up his own poop.

When the news crew arrived at the scene, Carol had already informed her fellow hookers about the incident and they ordered him to clean the whole room and the toilet.

"Why are you calling news reporters after I have agreed to clean your room and you have taken my US$15 without having a full session....." the hawker was heard asking as he begged to be freed.

Aides of billionaire bizwoman, Folorunsho Alakija, arrested for fraud

An aide of billionaire business woman, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, and six others have been arrested by EFCC for forgery, impersonation and stealing N3 million from Mrs Alakija's foundation, Rose of Sharon.

Vincent Ayewah (pictured above centre) conspired with six others to allegedly steal cheques and withdraw money meant for the beneficiaries of the Rose of Sharon Foundation. Mrs Alakija, who petitioned the EFCC, alleged that Vincent forged cheques of the foundation’s Stanbic IBTC Bank Account and got his sister Miss Florence Ayewah  (pictured above, right) and their friends to cash the forged cheques by presenting them with fake identity cards.

In the course of investigation,  it was discovered that Vincent used his position to enlist his family members as beneficiaries of the scheme. Florence was arrested at a Stanbic IBTC bank in Lagos while trying to cash a forged Cheque in the sum of N97, 000 in favour of one Ms Olubunmi Juliana Ishola. Besides Vincent and Florence, six other members of the syndicate involved in the scam and who have also been arrested are: George Ehizibolo, Onwuwa David, Okonkwo Chikadibia, Emmanuel Ayewah, Florence Ayewah and Chinyere Awanah.

The suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

Nigeria's First Lady Again Hurriedly Flown Out To Germany

 

 Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been flown out to Germany on another emergency.
This development comes less than 24 hours after SaharaReporters revealed that she was billed to depart for Spain to attend to her health.
 Medical sources in Abuja said Mrs. Jonathan had to be flown out earlier than expected due to new health concerns that developed overnight.  The urgent nature of her departure for Germany led to cancellation of her appearance at a presidential event scheduled for 6:00 PM where the president hosted foreign ambassadors to Nigeria.
There is no official word from the presidency regarding her trip. Her principal media aide Ayo Osinlu told Sahara Reporters by phone that he couldn’t tell of her movements because he was not in Abuja at the moment.
In August 2012, Mrs. Jonathan was airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany, where she spent several weeks in a hospital for an undisclosed ailment.
The presidency did not confirm her condition or whereabouts throughout the period.  She returned to Nigeria on October 14 and denied having been hospitalized in Germany or having any terminal condition.
“I don’t even know that hospital they are talking about,” she said.  “I do not have any terminal illness or cosmetic surgery.”

Nigerian Rap Star Naeto C confirms that he & wife Nicole are expecting a Baby

 

Their wedding in July 2012 was one of the celebrity weddings of the year, now Nigerian rap star Naeto Cand his wife Nicole Chikwe have even more great news as they are expecting their first child.

Naeto C was a guest on M-Net’s entertainment and lifestyle show, 53 Extra. He was interviewed by 53 Extra co-host Eku Edewor who slyly asked him about the big plans he has for 2013 including being a dad. The star seemed surprised by the question but happily confirmed that he plans to be a great dad and is excited about the new stage in his life.

There had been speculation that Naeto C and Nicole were expecting after she was spotted with “a baby bump” in late 2012. Though there was no official confirmation until now.

Brooklyn resident wins Miss America crown

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 23-year-old blonde from Brooklyn, N.Y., won the Miss America crown Saturday night after deftly dealing with a question about armed guards in schools and raising the issue of child sexual abuse in her contestant platform.

En route to her victory in the Las Vegas pageant, Mallory Hagan also tap danced to James Brown's "Get Up Off of That Thing," strutted down the runway in an asymmetrical white gown, and donned a revealing black string bikini.
She defeated Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers, who took second, and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, who finished third.
Hagan wins a $50,000 college scholarship and a year as an instant celebrity and role model to many girls. Her platform, the issue she will promote during her reign, is fighting child sexual abuse.
She told The Associated Press in an interview after her win that it was her mother who encouraged her to tackle the issue. She said that sexual abuse had "rippled through" her family, touching her mother, aunt, grandmother and cousins. Her mother had trouble at first convincing others of the trauma she had faced.

‘American Idol’ Preview: Season 12 Just May Be ‘The Nicki Minaj Show’

"American Idol" Season 12 doesn't officially begin until January 16, and it remains to be seen if this upcoming season will uncover/discover a new singing superstar of Clarkson- or Underwood-esque proportions. But judging from a 45-minute "Idol" preview that screened in 11 locations across the nation on Wednesday, January 9--a full week before the Fox network's premiere--Season 12 may already have a breakout star: the one and only Her Minajesty, Nicki Minaj.

Nicki was in fact so watchable, and so unexpectedly likable, that I almost wondered if the whole reason behind that much-hyped Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey "Idol" feud was Mariah's, well, jealousy. You see, Mariah may've claimed that Nicki once threatened to shoot her, but maybe Mariah really felt threatened by Nicki's massive, scene-stealing, scenery-chewing presence. Because honestly, when Nicki was on the screen this Wednesday, I barely noticed that Mariah, or anyone else, was even sitting at the judges' table. It was totally "The Nicki Minaj Show" up in there. And you know what? "The Nicki Minaj Show" was darn good TV.
